Transformed Thinking Changes Everything
Awakening from a restful sleep “Filled with grace, I walk in Light” were the words vibrating through my body. I did a search for them as not wanting to steal them from an enlightened being. No match. These words were indeed originally mine, placed on my heart.
On the heels of another trauma healing and transformation weekend, the concept of cascading trauma illumined my me understand why the continuing hate and fear-based thinking linger in our society. In a holistic system of mind, body, spirit, it’s as if some people are caught in sticky glue and are not able to get unstuck, even though the rhythm of change persists in life and through seasons.
The good news is that the resources for healing trauma are available to everyone, with remarkable affects. Not instantaneous of course, but certainly within reach for those with patience seeking healing and willing to engage in the work of transformation.
Spring is a season of transformation emotionally, spiritually, and even physically.
The spring is fresh and fearless / And every leaf is new / The world is brimmed with moonlight, The lilacs brimmed with dew. / Here in the moving shadows / I catch my breath and sing— / My heart is fresh and fearless / And over-brimmed with spring. — Sara Teasdale, “May Night”
Everything is transformed with the season of spring, from the air to bright colorful flowers and bird’s early morning greetings. It’s a sensation in which to revel and a sight to behold and absorb physically. My body loves spring if for no other reason to release a couple of layers of clothing even though this year in North Carolina, that hasn’t quite totally happened yet..
Spring can also be a time to engage in new projects filled with hope, joy, and light.
Hope never disappoints us … It is God’s love poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that is given to us. (Romans 5:5)
It’s a rhythm of newness, a sanctuary of life, a reminder that regeneration is possible and anticipated in the rhythm of Mother Nature. The season of spring is a Yes, Amen, and Alleluia all rolled into one exclamation. It’s the kind of energy that reminds me of one of my favorite childhood activities, swinging: the wind blowing through my hair and the sun shining on my face,, held by something much greater than anything I could ever imagine.
What wonder, what awe to be re-inspired by spring and imagining my 12-year old self overcome with glee and spirit and light. I don’t know as an adult when I’ve taken such delight in spring as I have this year.
Should you need more sustenance on this beautiful spring day, here are the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803-1882) to contemplate:
This is my wish for you: / Comfort on difficult days, smiles when sadness intrudes, / rainbows to follow the clouds, / laughter to kiss your lips, / sunsets to warm your heart, / hugs when spirits sag, / beauty for your eyes to see, / friendships to brighten your being, / faith so that you can believe, / confidence for when you doubt, / courage to know yourself, patience to accept the truth, / Love to complete your life.

As you say, Yes, Amen, Alleluia! I feel like we’ve walked in the woods or garden together.
